Merry Cherry Blossom
KYOTO
About
Galerie Taménaga Kyoto is pleased to announce the opening of a cherry blossom-themed exhibition, entitled ‘Merry Cherry Blossom’. The exhibition runs from March 29 (Saturday) to April 27 (Sunday). This exhibition features approximately 40 works, including pieces created specifically for this exhibition by 13 diverse artists, from emerging talents such as Kyosuke Tchinai and Takehiko Sugawara.
As the winter solstice passes and spring approaches, the yearning for the season when cherry blossoms bloom is a deep emotion every Japanese person feels. After the long, cold winter ends, people can feel the arrival of gentle spring at the moment when the cherry buds begin to open. The news of cherry blossoms blooming in various locations across Japan, known as the cherry blossom front, captivates people who listen eagerly and travel to witness it. Especially here in Kyoto, the landscape dyed in soft pink continues to charm countless visitors each year, blending perfectly with the atmosphere of the ancient city.
This exhibition began with the intention of experiencing the cherry blossoms through the artist’s perspective during this season of full bloom. Since its debut two years ago, it has received great praise, and this year marks its third edition. In this exhibition, where the heart that longs for spring and the love for cherry blossoms meet, we hope you will feel the fleeting beauty of the cherry blossoms and the deep emotions that the artists have poured into their works.
