Yoshihiko Yamazaki

Born in 1994 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Yoshihiko Yamazaki studied oil painting at the Graduate School of Education at Hokkaido University of Education, where he majored in painting. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Kyoto City University of Arts.

Yamazaki draws inspiration from photos shared on personal social media, using them as raw material for his digital collages, which are then translated onto canvas and reimagined as paintings. In an age flooded with vast amounts of information that flow quickly and fade just as fast, Yamazaki seeks to reconstruct fragments of memory, uncovering new significance within them. His work underscores the reality and paradox of modern life: while personal records are easily preserved, countless images fade away without ever being truly seen or valued.
